2. The World Bugs Me.

1. I am extremely bothered by the people that have a complete disregard for the Express (10 items or less) at Publix.
      Why? Just like all of us, they do not like to pay attention to the world around them, they are too self-absorbed in the other things they need to do that, they refuse to consider their surroundings.

2. For anyone that has been on UF's campus (and many other campuses), it is hard to find parking in any lot, forget about a spot in the lot you are supposed to be parked in.
      Why? UF has not taken the necessary steps to prepare for an increase in students, and as such, we have the parking lot we needed back in the 1960's, not now.

3. My dorm last year, was twice the size as the one that I have this year.  It is still a two room triple, so it shouldn't be smaller, but it is, AND I am paying much more.
      Why? Once again, UF failed to plan for an increase in the amount of students that they would have and so they have turned some two room doubles into triples and has tried to squeeze as much out of every person to make more money.

4. Corporate America has ruined what he hold near and dear.  That is a little satirical, but, in reality, there should not be a dispute between Marvel Studios/Disney and Sony over Spider-Man.
      Why? Both parties are greedy corporations who want to earn the most money.  More power to them because if I were a business owner, I would want to do the same, but I also want to see a Spider-Man movie that is actually good.

5. Stops signs/lights can bug me in many regards because many of them are totally unnecessary.  I have been pulled over several times (and ticketed), not because I did not stop, but because I did a California roll rather than making a full stop.  If it is not a high traffic intersection, it should be a yield rather than a full stop.
      Why?  The DOT is controlled by the government and any time that you get the government involved in something it is going to become poorly done and more expensive.  In this case, with more complaints about safety, they are forced to act, many times for political reasons.

6. The fact that we need to have a class with over 700 people in it is very bothersome.  Here are several reasons why.  First off, if there are live lectures, this means that the class SHOULD be able to have a seat in the class, but UF will not do that because they can utilize technology.  Another problem that I have with that is that we are paying extra because it is an online course.
      Why? Once again, UF wants to maintain their ranking and get more money so they find as many ways as possible to ensure that they will get the biggest bang for their buck.

7. One of the things that I have no knowledge on how to solve it, but desperately want to is the fact that I need so many devices to do different things.  I am bugged that I do not have several devices that run on the same operating system, thus effectively allowing me to share their screens at any given moment.
      Why? The root of this problem is that the technology necessary to create this would require a large operating system file as well as cross-device communication we do not have currently.

8. This one may be more obscure, but I do not understand why we do not have a corporate tax structure that provides for small business development.  With a flat-rate tax structure we are not incentivizing small businesses to start.  However, we allow Amazon to pay no taxes for several years with which they can effectively drive competition out of the market.  (I have said this before, but I do not blame them, if it were offered to me, I would surely take it, but the system needs to change)
      Why? The ability for big businesses to lobby the government is much greater than that of small businesses and so big businesses can strong arm their way into a deal that benefits them.

9. Back in Citrus County, a majority of the town has an anti-growth sentiment and a general feeling that the town has gotten too big now that we do not have only one traffic light like in 1970.
      Why? Many people came to Citrus County because it was a small town, and to think that there could be change for the better is beyond them.

10. College professors, in general, (not Dr. Pryor) are increasingly become less and less open which is resulting in indoctrination and it is resulting in less critical thinking by students.
      Why? Many professors, like I said, not all, have spent their whole careers in academia which means that they have very little sense in what the whole world is experiencing.  As a result, they only see the academic side of the problem not that which the common man might experience.

11. I am bothered by the fact that political ideals are becoming more and more radicalized on both ends of the spectrum in order to drive mobilization and create hysteria.
      Why? Studies have shown that only more politically motivated people vote in general elections and as such, they are the ones that tend to be more radical.  As a result, more radical candidates become elected.

12.  I am bugged by the fact that UF takes so long to make a decision when there is a hurricane approaching the state.  I understand that you want to retain your top 10 school ranking, but at what cost.
      Why? Meteorology is not at the point where we can pinpoint the correct direction of hurricanes which causes college campuses to wait until the last moment to make a decision on cancelling classes.

13. As I sit in my dorm surrounded by cords, I am bothered by the fact that there are so many chords needed to keep devices charged.  Can someone explain why I cannot have an adapter that will charge all of my devices, but only take up one outlet plug.
      Why? All of the devices need different ports and levels of electricity to charge, and there is no way for manufacturers to predict what devices you will have.

14. Back in Citrus County, we don't have the same level of traffic as Gainesville, traffic here really bugs me because there are too many traffic lights with too many intersections, too many pedestrians, and general poor driving habits.
      Why? I think that Floridians are not properly taught how to drive which is primarily the issue, but we also don't plan infrastructure far enough ahead to prevent these sorts of issues.

15. As a former candidate for school board, I am bugged by the fact that we have done very little to ensure the morale and mental health of our school teachers and staff.  With a depleting field, the pay rate is not the only concern, respect and general discipline is an increasing issue.
      Why? We provide very little funding for education in the United States, and people get worked up when it goes to anyone other than the students.  We need to be more innovative with education.

16. After Amazon acquired Whole Foods, the entire grocery market place has started shifting to an online platform.  Publix has only started doing online orders that we are not even fulfilling ourselves.  It's a major problem for a company that places customer service at the forefront.
      Why? Publix does not want to take on any more costs of operation and so it was easier for Instacart to take on that part of the operation while Publix attempts to increase its storefronts.

17. Seen from many forms of polling, people do not know enough about elections, but they are voting and it could be forever altering how this country is supposed to run.  This is not a partisan attack, people from both sides of the aisle are not informed enough.
      Why? It takes a lot of time, resources, and energy to become informed on the happenings of politics which is why so many people just assume they know the issues and vote based on a few debates.  Another reason is that people do not like to be presented with facts and reasoning, they like their beliefs to be superior.

18. Not too long back Google had a climate change conference, which is great to see because philanthropy from a private organization is what we need more of.  However, in this instance, many of the peopled invited took private jets to attend.  Why do the elites get to determine the solutions to climate change when they are producing more pollution than my 2011 Ford Mustang.
      Why? It goes back to the common man not having the resources to make a global impact like these celebrities so we rely heavily on their opinions and initiatives to guide the world.

19. After my experience tonight, I can now say that the McDonalds on University Ave. is the slowest one that I have ever been to.  I have had similar experiences in the past at this location, but I decided today that it really bugs me.
      Why? I think that this is caused by an understaffing of the place because McDonalds has many things in place to prevent this situation.

20. Back in January, I was the proud owner of a 2004 Ford Ranger, well, on my way to Gainesville, it caught fire due to a faulty amp.  That truly bugs me because the thing had been sitting in my truck for over 5 years.  What an awful time for it to catch fire because I lost many of my personal belongings.
      Why? Ultimately, it was my fault because I purchased a cheap amp and expected quality results.  Although, the company, Dual, should still be accountable because that is clearly a big problem on their end.

Reflection: I did not really have an issue coming up with the list which probably says a lot about me.  I complain a lot.  What this assignment came down to was whether or not I could remember all of the things that I complain about.  Fortunately, (or unfortunately depending on your stance) I have a great memory so I just kept writing and writing to produce this list.  It is my intention to continue the list on the blog to see how far I can get until I finally cannot find any more things in this world that bug me.  With the list, I hope to find solutions because without them, I really just seem like a Negative Nancy.  I am personally concerned that I was able to figure it out so quickly.  I want to do some more investigating to determine why I may have not had too much of a difficulty with this assignment.  If I am being completely honest though, it felt great to get some of this off my chest.  When I complain people stop listening, but a blog is entirely incapable of that.  It felt great!
